You are starting a new and exiting phase of your life!
Having a baby, whether or not it is your first pregnancy, will bring you plenty of wonderful experiences and new challenges.
Maternity reflexology can be of great support to women throughout the pregnancy and can help promote general well being.
Receiving reflexology during pregnancy will also allow you time away from your probably busy life and provide a comforting place where you can focus purely on yourself and your growing baby.
I experienced the benefits of Maternity Reflexology, when I wanted to have a VBAC delivery with my younger son, the reflexology really de stressed me, and I went into labour naturally following a session. I have had twins via c section and two VBAC births so can relate to both methods of birthing and the extra demands of having a multiple pregnancy.
I decided to train with the The Susanne Enzer Maternity Reflexology Consortium © as it seemed to be the most comprehensive training I could find. I was trained by experienced Midwife Jenni Tribe over 4 days, (32 hours) including pre conception advice, maternity and post birth reflexology methods, and then went on to complete my case studies and essay's and other supporting material to gain qualification.
Maternity Reflexology is suitable from preconception to the first trimester, when there are huge changes to hormone levels, anxieties and concerns about the changes that are going to happen, these factors may leave you anxious, delighted, exhilarated, weepy, exhausted! During the second and third trimester, most of the early discomforts have gone but you may have other physical symptoms. Reflexology can be very useful and nurturing treatment for harmonising and restoring for post natal care.
A common question I get asked is if reflexology can be used to bring labour on. Priming techniques can be used, however I always like to remind my clients that labour is like a fruit on a tree, it will not fall until it is ripe and ready! The pregnant women has primal instincts where it will only give birth when relaxed enough and to feet safe to do so, reflexology is used to help the parasympathetic nervous system to allow the body to relax and allow labour when the time is right.
