Reflexology Lymph Drainage is a ground breaking and award winning technique, which may be used to help reduce lymphoedema after treatment for breast cancer. RLD is also useful for clients with other (non-cancer related) more common conditions.
The aim is to stimulate the function of the lymphatic system and drain excess lymph from the damaged area. This is done using a problem specific reflexology technique for lymphatic drainage via the feet. The focus is primarily on reducing secondary lymphoedema, a swelling in the arm following treatment for breast cancer. Measuring the fluid volume of the arm before and after draining of the excess lymph via reflexology.
Lymphatic drainage massage (MLD) can be used to treat conditions other than lymphoedema, and RLD may be used similarly.
